The Hunter Biden Laptop Story. A perfect example of why the source matters

The New York Post on Wednesday published an article based on emails purportedly obtained from a laptop that Hunter Biden, the son of former vice president Joe Biden, had supposedly left behind for repair in a Delaware shop in April 2019.

The key thrust of the article is that an April 17, 2015, email suggests Hunter Biden arranged for a top executive at a Ukrainian energy firm to meet with the then-vice president when he was in charge of U.S. policy toward Ukraine. “Dear Hunter, thank you for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together. It’s realty [sic] an honor and pleasure,” reads the email, supposedly written by Vadym Pozharskyi, an adviser to the board of Burisma.

This story proves you can’t judge a book by it’s cover…

This is fake news from the start

The reporters who work for this newspaper say the story isn’t true.

New York Post’s own reporters denounce its Hunter Biden story

And the owner of the shop isn’t even sure it was Hunter Biden

The shop owner says he couldn’t identify Biden as the laptop’s owner

The Senate Republicans already decided last month that Biden did nothing wrong

U.S. Senate Republicans last month published a report based on an investigation that looked into the claims. While they found Hunter Biden’s business made State Department official’s work awkward, they found no evidence that Joe Biden acted inappropriately.

And something is off with the “smoking gun” email.

The New York Post published PDF printouts of several emails allegedly taken from the laptop, but for the “smoking-gun” email, it shows only a photo made the day before the story was posted

Fox News Published a Misleading Headline on the Story

Fox news publishes a headline saying Hunter Biden’s signature is on the invoice, and then buries this line at the bottom of the article:

“Fox News has not verified that the signature is indeed Biden’s.”

Over 50 US Intelligence officials are stating that there is no way that this story can be true.

I’ve got some questions about this odd turn of events

The owner of the shop was later revealed to be John Paul MacIsaac of Wilmington. He is an avid Trump supporter and has been repeatedly changing his story about what exactly occurred. He initially said that he wasn’t able to identify who dropped off the laptop because he is “legally blind.” MacIsaac then said that the customer had identified himself as Hunter Biden.

  • If the owner of the shop is blind, how is he reading these emails?
  • If three laptops were dropped off, why were only two picked up?

Let’s hear the owner tell the story in his own words

And last but not least, there’s a recording of the press interview the owner of the shop gave… and he keeps changing his story:
